Doug Pederson Wants Another NFL Head Coaching Gig

Doug Pederson is no longer the coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, but from the sounds of things, he'd sure like to coach somewhere.

“The competitor inside wants to continue to compete,” Pederson said on The Anthony Gargano Show on 97.5 The Fanatic. “Hopefully, I get an opportunity to lead another football team and do the same things again and learn from the last five years -- what a great teaching moment for me. I always talk about how we learn from failures and different things like that. I don’t want to say that this was a failure, but at the same time, I want to learn from the last five years moving forward in my next opportunity.”

Pederson coached the Eagles from 2016 to 2020. He guided them to a Super Bowl win in 2018 and compiled a 42-37-1 record overall. Before the Eagles, he had never been a head coach.

He didn't really specify whether he'll only take a head coaching job or whether he'd be willing to start as an offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach. Heck, maybe he'd take a college job. All we really know is Pederson is looking to get back in the game and that he apparently is fine with moving forward and seeking another opportunity.

“We got accomplished in Philadelphia what I wanted to get accomplished, and that was winning a world championship," he said. "I wish everybody, Nick (Sirianni) and all the guys best of luck moving forward, and I’m focused on my future.”

And hey, maybe another Super Bowl awaits. At least, that's the dream.

“I’ll be defined in Philadelphia for my wins and losses,” Pederson said. “Obviously, the championship is huge. But for me, I feel like if I get another opportunity, I want to do it again. I went to two Super Bowls as a player in Green Bay, and then obviously now being a coach in Philadelphia, and so three Super Bowls, and when it gets in your system like that, it’s just hard to turn that off.”
