Derek Carr Still Trying To Recruit Davante Adams To Raiders
Derek Carr and Davante Adams were two big-name players at Fresno State. During their time together there, the two ripped up opposing defenses and combined for 233 catches, 3,031 yards and 38 touchdowns in the two seasons. The pair also reportedly had a very good relationship.
Carr has spoken out recently about Adams, whose contract with the Packers is set to expire at the end of the season.
With Aaron Rodgers not committing to returning to the Packers, it might be the perfect time for Adams to make a move to another franchise.
“I’ve learned, in this business, you never shut a door on anything,” Carr said when asked about Adams being a free agent following the 2021 season.
“I will be recruiting very hard. So when that time comes, it will be a full-court press.”
Adams has said that he wants to remain in Green Bay, and reports say that the team and Adams have begun the early stages of a new deal.
That doesn't mean it's a done deal though, and if Carr can do enough to entice his buddy from the Packers, it would be a huge get for the Raiders in 2022.
“He’s focused on being a Packer, and I know that because I see how he works,” Carr told The Cris Collinsworth Podcast featuring Richard Sherman.
“I know how he works, and I know how much it means to him.
“He’s focused on that, and I’m focused on trying to get to the Super Bowl, win the Super Bowl. Hopefully, he’s in it so I can beat his butt too. That’s the plan, then recruit him over to the dark side.”
Adams has developed into one of the NFL’s truly elite pass catchers. In just 14 games last season, he caught 115 passes for 1,374 yards and 18 touchdowns for a career-high catch rate of 77.2 percent.
