Denver Broncos Have Seven Picks In The 2021 NFL Draft To Try And Fill Their Voids

The Denver Broncos (5-11-0 in 2020), sit with the 9th overall pick in this Thursday's upcoming NFL Draft with a chance to make a big impact. They could even pick a quarterback to backup, start ahead, or challenge current starter Drew Locke for playing time.

The Broncos' first round picks the last five years have been all over the place:

2016 26 Paxton Lynch QB Memphis
2017 20 Garett Bolles OT Utah
2018 5 Bradley Chubb DE NC State
2019 20 Noah Fant TE Iowa
2020 15 Jerry Jeudy WR Alabama

The team drafted failed quarterback Paxton Lynch (looking for a job in the NFL, last seen with the Steelers) and breakout star offensive tackle Garett Bolles, who inked a four-year, $68 million contract extension with the Broncos.

OLB Bradley Chubb has been very good, tight end Noah Fant had 62 catches last season for 673 yards and three scores, and wide out Jerry Jeudy showed a ton of promise as a rookie, catching 52 passes for 856 yards and three scores.

The needs remain the same - quarterback, right tackle and running back. The team will have seven picks to fill those needs.

Round 1: No. 9 overall
Round 2: No. 40
Round 3: No. 71
Round 4: No. 114
Round 5: No. 152
Round 6: No. 191
Round 7: No. 237, No. 239 (from Giants), No. 253 (from Browns)

2021 might be their most critical draft year ever. Since John Elway is no longer in complete control, the team might hope he's willing to come out of retirement and play again for Denver.
