Cowboys Star Micah Parsons Compares Himself With Aaron Donald

If you aspire to be great, why not aspire to be the greatest?

That appears to be the mindset of Dallas linebacker Micah Parsons, who's of the opinion that he and teammate Trevon Diggs will one day be a more imposing defensive duo than the Super Bowl winning combination of LA's Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey - who have 11 All-Pro nods between them.

"It's hard to say we're the best (right now) because I know we're young and we still make mistakes," Parsons said, per USA Today Sports. "It's hard to put us over Aaron Donald, the greatest defensive player in history, with Jalen Ramsey. So I won't do it yet. But I think we can become them or even better if we learn together and stick together."

That's a tall task. Even for the 6'3 Parsons - last season's NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year - and Diggs, who led the league with 11 interceptions. But the Cowboys teammates are young enough (both 23) to dream big.










Matching Ramsey, a five-time Pro Bowler would be tough enough for any defender, but mirroring or surpassing the impact of Donald, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, would seem laughable for even the most talented of players.

“I believe in myself and my confidence," Parsons told USA Today Sports.

And rightfully so. Parsons finished his rookie year with 13 sacks, 20 tackles for loss and three forced numbers. He had a half sack more than the DPOY Donald. Despite his own stat line and confidence, Parsons is even more sure of teammate Diggs' abilities.

“Without a doubt I thought he was the best defensive player in the league last year. We’ve seen 20 sacks before. But in this era, we’ve never seen anyone reach 10-plus interceptions," Parsons added. "So it’s disrespectful to me, because I think he deserves all the credit in the world and deserves to be named a top-five corner if not the best corner in the league.”

Should this pair of Cowboys somehow surpass the Rams' duo, they won't have to worry about receiving their due credit.
