Congrats, You Crazy Kids: Sean Payton Is Getting Hitched
The head coach of the New Orleans Saints just won his own personal Super Bowl on Friday. And in Mexico, no less.
Following a 20-month engagement, Payton is marrying West Virginia beauty Skylene Montgomery in Cabo San Lucas.
Per NOLA.com, "Montgomery is a former pageant queen who was selected as Miss West Virginia in 2008. She met Payton at a Saints-Panthers game when Montgomery was working as a nurse in Charlotte."
The couple originally set their date for March, but the ceremony was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic. But the waiting has reached an end. And Payton, 57, is reliving his younger years with these nuptials, given that Montgomery is 21 years younger.
Payton proposed to Montgomery at Longway Tavern in 2019, per NOLA.com. "Saints owner Gayle Benson helped Payton pop the question by inviting Montgomery out for what she said was a celebration of her and Tom Benson's wedding anniversary," WWLTV reported.
Payton has been Saints coach since 2006, winning a Super Bowl in 2010 by a 31-17 count over the Indianapolis Colts. He has compiled a 143-38 record overall, and is 9-8 in the playoffs.
