Commanders RB Brian Robinson Shot 'Multiple Times' As Target Of Attempted Robbery: Report

Washington Commanders running back and former Alabama standout Brian Robinson was reportedly shot "multiple times" during an attempted robbery on Sunday.

Robinson was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports.

Garafolo reported that Robinson was struck in the lower body twice.

Robinson was drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft and emerged this summer as the apparent front-runner for Washington's top running back job, even with RB Antonio Gibson coming off a 1,000-yard season.

Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, "police responded to a shooting in 1000 block of H Street NE" and two suspects fled the scene. A firearm was also recovered by police nearby.

The Commanders released a statement late Sunday:

We have been made aware that Brian Robinson Jr. was the victim of an attempted armed robbery or carjacking in Washington, D.C. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently being treated at the hospital, where team officials are on-site with him. We ask that you please respect Brian's privacy at this time.

Following the team statement, head coach Ron Rivera tweeted that he visited with Robinson.

"I just got done visiting w/Brian," Rivera said. "He is in good spirits and wanted me to thank everyone for their kind words, prayers & support. He wants his teammates to know he appreciates them all for reaching out and he loves them all & will be back soon doing what he does best."
