Clay: New Injury To Dak Prescott Spells Big Trouble For Dallas

America's Team is eager to rebound in 2021 following a disappointing 6-10 season under head coach, Mike McCarthy.

The Cowboys' most glaring issue throughout the year was the absence of their franchise quarterback, Dak Prescott, and they slid back to third place in the abysmal NFC East as a result.

Dak broke his ankle in Week 5 against the New York Giants, then underwent season-ending surgery and endured an offseason rehabbing process. The timeline was a success, and Dak returned to Cowboys camp with fervor.

Unfortunately, he then suffered another injury that has temporarily derailed his return.

In Wednesday's Hard Knocks episode, the lead play caller had to halt practice early when he felt upper body tightness, which turned out to be a shoulder strain. The injury will require further testing and is being brushed off as a minor hiccup in the process, but OutKick's Clay Travis thinks it may be a bigger deal than Dallas is letting on ...

"The Cowboys say there's nothing to worry about," prefaced Clay, before dissecting the importance of having a fully healthy Dak Prescott available in order for Dallas to avoid the shortcomings of 2020.

"And the entire Dallas Cowboys season relies on Dak. Let's be honest, as good as Amari Cooper is, as good as Michael Gallup is, as good as CeeDee Lamb and Ezekiel Elliott -- if he's a skinny Ezekiel Elliott -- are, that offensive line is talented but you saw how much of a drop off on the offensive side of the ball there was going from Dak to Andy Dalton. What is going to happen going forward with Dak Prescott? If he's not healthy, the Cowboys are in big trouble."
