Chris Hogan Retires From NFL Following 10-Year Career

After successfully making an NFL comeback, two-time Super Bowl champion WR Chris Hogan has decided to hang up the cleats for good. Hogan, best known for his three years in New England where he won two titles as Tom Brady's safety net, informed his most recent employer, New Orleans, that he was retiring.

Hogan had already been in pseudo-retirement before signing with the Saints in late July. The 33-year-old veteran had gone unsigned by NFL teams over the winter and turned his attention to the Premier Lacrosse League. He spent his summer on the lacrosse field before New Orleans convinced him to give football another go.

After joining the Saints late in training camp, Hogan made the opening day roster and played in five games. He accumulated a modest four receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown.

Hogan played three seasons each with Buffalo and New England before one-year stops in Carolina, New York and New Orleans. His best season came in 2016 with the Patriots when he started 14 games, scored four touchdowns and tallied 680 yards.

Saints reporter Nick Underhill said over the weekend that Hogan was away from the team with his pregnant wife, contemplating retirement. He ultimately opted to close the book on his NFL career, and on Saturday, the Saints placed him on the reserve/retired list.

He ends his career with 220 receptions and 19 touchdowns.
