Chargers To Move On From Coach Anthony Lynn After Season

Anthony Lynn's time as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers appears to be over.

According to FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer, the Chargers are expected to fire Lynn, presumably as soon as Monday.

Lynn has actually done a decent job in LA, compiling a 32-31 overall record entering Sunday's season-finale. That included a 12-4 mark just two seasons ago. But the Chargers finished fourth in the AFC West last season and were eliminated from the playoff race some time ago.

Lynn's impending dismissal was suggested by Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network a couple weeks ago.

“A West Coast source put the percentages of Lynn keeping his job at 20 percent, and that’s the best-case scenario,” Pauline wrote. “The vast majority of what I’m hearing from well-connected people is that Lynn will be fired.”

While no names have been floated as potential replacements, a Chargers vacancy would undoubtedly be coveted, given the success and upside of rookie quarterback Justin Herbert.

Fair or not, when things don’t work out in the NFL, the coach is usually the first to go. That appears to be the fate awaiting Lynn today.
