Carson Wentz Thinks Trey Lance Will Thrive In San Francisco

Carson Wentz was asked about Trey Lance's chances in San Francisco, and his response sounded like he was talking about his past in Philly. You be the judge:

"There are going to be a million things pulling you in one direction, then the other direction, pressure, expectations, all these things. But I know know Trey. He's got a great head on his shoulders. He's young, age wise, but he's very mature. I know he's going to be just fine."

Here's where it sounds eerily familar

"He's in a great situation. They have a great culture there in San Fran, a good coaching staff. So I know he's going to do a great job, and I'm excited for him. I just keep telling him to be himself: 'Don't let any of those things change who you are, change your values, change your perspective on football. Just go play.'"

Carson Wentz is right, and honestly, it's solid advice to give. However, it just comes across like wisdom learned from crappy experience. So, perhaps he could've given this advice in private? Solid coaching and perspective create success in the NFL, but Wentz is inadvertently saying one of those factors failed in Philadelphia.

We could easily argue that Carson Wentz is saying his mindset was a massive problem in Philly. Had he played out his career with the Eagles knowing this advice, he too would be in MVP form. Training camp opens up in a month, so we'll get a better opportunity to see Trey Lance in action around then. Until then, all the praise and advice is just talk.
