Carson Wentz Projected To Have Solid OL Protecting Him In Indy

Carson Wentz didn't have a good offensive line protecting him in 2020. In fact, the unit wasn't even adequate due to age and injuries. He had great protection up front in years prior, but 2020 was a rough year for everyone involved with the Philadelphia Eagles organization.

Fortunately for Wentz, the offensive line shouldn't be an issue at his new landing spot.

The former No. 2 overall pick is now a member of the Indianapolis Colts. Some might immediately recall Andrew Luck running for his life over the course of his playing career in Indy, but the offensive line clearly hasn't been an issue in recent years.

Sure, longtime starting left tackle Anthony Castonzo retired during the offseason. That will be a hit, but his replacement, Eric Fisher, should be an effective option on the blindside once he's back to full health. A downgrade still? Yes, but it could be much worse.

The rest of the unit remains intact from the last couple of years:

That's some much-needed stability for a 28-year-old, former top-shelf franchise quarterback searching for a redemption story.

The team's stable of running backs, Jonathan Taylor, Nyheim Hines and Marlon Mack, combined with weapons in the passing game such as Michael Pittman, TY Hilton, Jack Doyle and Mo-Alie Cox give Wentz plenty of options across the board.

With an offensive line that will provide protection and an effective defense, Wentz now has the opportunity to return to previous form in Indy. Will he though?

Only time will tell, but this is a Super Bowl contending roster if he does turn it around.
