Carson Wentz And His Bum Ankles Could Play Vs. Titans

The Carson Wentz Watch is back on, and there's a chance he could actually be behind center when the Indianapolis Colts visit the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

At least, that's the word from Colts coach Frank Reich.

“Carson Wentz was limited (Friday) and we’ll see how he responds over the next 24 hours,” Reich told reporters, adding that Wentz will be a game-time decision.

That's actually a minor football miracle, as Wentz sprained both of his already wobbly ankles in last week's loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Word is, the right is worse than the left.

But Reich said he thought Wentz looked OK during the time he was able to practice Friday.

“I’m a little surprised we’re at this point, to be honest,” Reich said. ""Monday and Tuesday were pretty bad. Monday thought zero chance, Tuesday I thought there was a glimmer of a hope. But we handle it day by day like we said. We've been pretty straightforward how it all came down and pretty transparent and we'll try to figure it out. was the next step in trying to figure that out."

The Colts made a run to the playoffs last season but have hobbled their way to an 0-2 start this year. Winning at Tennessee, even with Wentz, would be a tall task. If he can't go, the Colts can turn to either Jacob Eason or Brett Hundley. (Don't worry, we aren't really familiar with them, either.)

Reich wouldn't reveal who might get the nod if Wentz can't go.

"I'm not going to make those hypotheticals," Reich said. "It's a good question and I understand the question, but until -- our kind of general rule is we'll make those decisions when we need to. We thought through all the scenarios, we have a plan, have a tentative plan in mind and will address that when and if it's needed."

Wentz is 45-of-69 passing for 498 yards and three touchdowns with an interception through the first two games.
