Game one is in the books for my son & the real action was on another field
The baseball season is off and running for my 8U son, and it was a fairly relaxing Saturday afternoon at the park. The game didn't go 7 innings and lasted just over an hour and a half. That was the perfect part of the day. The less-than-perfect part of the day was having to listen to a 12U or 13U (my guesstimate) select ball coach on the field next to where my son was playing. This guy wouldn't and couldn't stop berating his players through warmups and then into the game. "DON'T STEP ON MY LINE." "DO IT AGAIN!" "I DON'T WANT TO HEAR 'OK'!" "WHAT DID YOU DO WRONG? TELL MEEEEE!" "YOU STOPPED MOVING, THE BALL PLAYED YOU. MOOOOOVE." And on and on and on. Those were the tame quotes out of the drill sergeant as he buried kid after kid while hitting grounders before moving on to berating his players while they were getting swings in on the hit stick. Thoughts and prayers to the players who go through that for the next 2-3 months or however long the season lasts these days. I'll be at the 8U games listening to Yacht Rock, possibly tailgating depending on which field my son's game is on, and enjoying the peace and tranquility of kids running around being kids. • Uh oh, the wokes aren't going to like what Dave Chappelle said on the Joe Rogan podcast. The conversation turned to how SNL handled the Elon Musk appearance. “Again like you say, no one can be woke enough,” Chappelle told Rogan. “I’m torn because I like a warrior for a good cause, but I’m really into tactics,” he added. “You’re not gonna nag people into behaving in a way that’s – in fact, if you continue with this tone, even if you’re right, you’ll be very hard to hear.” • And there it is...."even if you’re right, you’ll be very hard to hear." It's like listening to my neighbor tell the world how she's going to save the bees. She's going to grow pollinator plants, she's going to do this, she's going to do that. Here's a thought...go do it on your property and quit looking for someone to tell you how great it is you're fighting for the bees. I'll be on my patio listening to Yacht Rock and letting the bees do their thing on the pollinator plants we have growing around the yard. • Dr. Fauci had a big weekend. I know you guys have tuned him out by now, but Sunday he said next Mother's Day should be when things look normal again. I'm starting to think Fauc-dogg isn't getting out of the house much these days. Look back at that quote from Chappelle above, specifically the last part of it: "you'll be very hard to hear." Fauc-dogg crossed that bridge a long time ago.
