Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy Arrested In Colorado On Domestic Violence Related Charges
Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy was reportedly arrested Thursday afternoon on charges of second-degree criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer, a misdemeanor offense.
Further detailing revealed that the incident involved the mother of Jeudy’s one-month-one daughter and that the domestic violence charge stemmed from “removal of property.” No physical harm was committed.
According a Colorado Legal Defense Group, criminal tampering means to tamper with another person's property "with intent to cause injury, inconvenience, or annoyance." NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the domestic violence enhancer is based on Jeudy's relationship with the accuser. Second-degree criminal tampering can carry up to 120 days in jail and/or up to $750 in fines. With the domestic violence enhancer added, however, it could increase the potential punishment if Jeudy is convicted.
Jeudy is on a no-bond hold and must stay in jail until he sees a judge, who is then able to order a mandatory protection order. Authorities say that hearing is likely to take place within the next 24 hours.
The Broncos have not immediately responded to OutKick's request for a comment. The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office released the following statement on the situation:
"Professional football player Jerry Jeudy has been arrested by Arapahoe Co sheriff deputies," they wrote, via Twitter. "He's being held at the Arapahoe Co jail on charges of 2nd degree criminal tampering w/a domestic violence enhancer, a misdemeanor. He's on a no bond hold. He's innocent until proven guilty."
The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office told the Denver Post that Jeudy was taken into custody between 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (mountain time)
Jeudy, Denver's 2020 first-round draft pick, has appeared in 26 games for the Broncos, hauling in 90 receptions for 1,323 yards and three touchdowns.
