Broncos QB Drew Lock Speaks Out On Rumors Regarding Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson

If there is one thing you don't want to be, it's a young NFL quarterback who can't seem to turn the corner.

Count Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock among that group.

Lock, who is 8-10 in two seasons as the starter for the Broncos, has had to field all kinds of talk about replacing him with a high-profile quarterback, such as Green Bay Packers thrower Aaron Rodgers, who may or may not want out of Green Bay.

Also on the list is unhappy Houston Texans young star Deshaun Watson. The quarterback has expressed that he wants to be traded, but nothing has taken place yet.

The Broncos also picked up Teddy Bridgewater, who played in 15 games as the starter for the Carolina Panthers last season. Bridgewater went 4-11 and threw for 3,733 yards with 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

In an interview, Lock calls all this chatter "a distraction."

“It can only be a distraction if I let it,’’ Lock said via Total Pro Sports.

“If I think about it for more than this conversation we’re having right now, then I would let it be a distraction. And if those guys are playing for Green Bay or they’re playing wherever they are, then they have a step advantage on me because I was thinking about it and not thinking about football and how we can get better.

“No, I don’t let it be a distraction. It came with the lack of wins last year. If we won 10 games, no one would be talking about it. If we won 11 games, nobody would be talking about it. If we won 12 games no one would talk about it.

"But due to play from last year, to stop those conversations from happening again, I need to play better this year and that’s where my energy was and that’s where all my focus was. And that’s, quite honestly, why I didn’t think about it because all my energy and all my time was focused elsewhere this offseason, and that was getting this team better."

We will see how the QB battle all plays out come camp, but don't count Lock out. He may be Denver's opening day starter yet.
