Broncos Narrow Coaching Search To Three

It appears the Denver Broncos are making some headway in their coaching search, narrowing their field of potential hires to three.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, those three candidates are: Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell and Green Bay Packers OC Nathaniel Hackett.

Quinn is actually on his way to Denver for a second interview, as relayed by Sports Illustrated, so perhaps he is the frontrunner.

But the Broncos may not be Quinn's only option.

"The current Cowboys defensive coordinator has been linked to six of the seven HC vacancies this year, which should presumably give him multiple options to consider," wrote Adam La Rose of Pro Football Rumors.

Denver parted ways with Vic Fangio after the season, and like Quinn, Fangio was a defensive-minded coach. So perhaps O'Connell or Hackett will end up being more appealing -- though as far as we know, neither has yet been invited back for a second round of interviews.

No matter whom the Broncos hire, they'll have some serious roster adjustments to make, given their 7-10 finish, which included losing five of their final six games.

Quinn, 51, was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 2015-20. He led them to the Super Bowl in 2016, when they lost to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots after building a 28-3 lead.

O'Connell, 36, was the OC of the Washington Football Team for one year (2019) before joining the Rams.

Hackett, 42, has been Packers' OC since 2019. He spent two years as the Jacksonville Jaguars' OC before that.
