Brady 'Threatens' To Put His Dad 'In A Home Against His Will' Ahead Of Return To New England

You might have heard that there's kind of a big thing going on Sunday in New England. No, it's not a clam chowder taste, nor is Larry Bird giving a free shooting clinic. The Patriots are playing host to Gisele Bündchen's husband and his Tampa Bay teammates.

Tom Brady heads back to his old stomping grounds with two goals in mind: win the game and temporarily muzzle his old man.

Roughly two weeks ago, Brady's dad, Tom Brady Sr., caused a stir when he was interviewed by Tom Curran for the Patriots Talk podcast. "Belichick wanted him out the door, and last year he threw touchdowns. I think that’s a pretty good year," said the elder Brady.

When asked if he, too, felt vindicated, Tom Sr. replied: "Damn right."

Now, days away from the first meeting between Brady and his former team since they broke up in 2020, the quarterback is focused not just on the game, but also his father's news-worthy comments.

“I’ve actually prepared a statement that I wanted to say, and it’s really all that I have to say on the subject,” said Brady, via the Let's Go! podcast. “Comments made by Thomas Edward Brady, a 77-year-old insurance company CEO, who should know better at this point in his life, don’t necessarily reflect the views or positions held by his son, Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Jr. So furthermore, should Tom Sr. continue to speak out on behalf of his son without the express written consent, Junior reserves the right to eventually put him in a home against his will. That’s all I have to say.”

After having a laugh at his dad's expense, Brady praised his father, telling Let's Go!: “I have the greatest dad in the world. He’s the most loving, caring, honest man in the world, and without him there’s no way I’d be in the position that I’m in. He’s there to support me, win or lose."

Brady's Bucs are scheduled to kickoff against the Pats at 8:20 eastern Sunday night. It's safe to say Tom Sr. won't be watching the game against his will.
