Big Free Agency Signing Has Yet To Pay Off For New York Giants

New York Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay arrived to the team with a reputation as a dangerous playmaker.

But so far this season, the wideout appears to have received more injuries than touchdowns.

Golladay missed most of training camp with a hamstring injury, and missed three games earlier this season with a knee injury. He made three first-half catches before injuring his ribs and returning to the locker room Sunday in a 20-9 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

The 28-year-old was back on the field in the second half as the target of two incompletions, but head coach Joe Judge said the receiver couldn't return for the final minutes, the New York Post reports.

“I kind of just felt like something popped,” Golladay said. “I don’t think it’s too serious. Get treatment on it. I want to be out there with the team. So, I think it will just be day-to-day.”

Golladay said an X-ray showed no cracked ribs.

The Northern Illinois product averaged 183 receptions for 3,068 yards and 21 touchdowns over his three seasons with the Detroit Lions.

“Kenny plays with a lot of toughness and competitiveness,” head coach Joe Judge said. “And, when he’s out there, he obviously makes plays for us. Kenny is a guy we talk about all the time — it may look covered at some points other receivers, but when that’s No. 19, don’t be afraid to feed it to him.”

Judge seems to have faith in Golladay, though. He said he “saw Kenny make some big catches," when asked about the offensive performance during the loss.

Golladay said Judge had message to the guys on the sideline: "Really just saying, 'There’s a lot of ball left. Keep going. We’re not going to stop going to you guys.' Just make sure no one is having their head down.”

The Giants (4-8) next travel to face the Los Angeles Rams (8-4) in Week 14's matchup.
