Ben Roethlisberger Expected To Leave Steelers After Season

Big Ben's career may be at an end.

According to ESPN-NFL insider Adam Schefter, Ben Roethlisberger has spoken privately with the Pittsburgh Steelers and announced his intention to leave the team after the 2021-22 season. No word on whether the news indicates retirement.

This season, Roethlisberger has accrued 2,522 passing yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions this season — one year removed from tossing 33 touchdown passes.

Pittsburgh is 5-5-1 through 11 games, with their tie coming against the winless Detroit Lions.

Roethlisberger currently sits 7th all-time in NFL career passing yards, 8th in all-time touchdown passes and fourth-highest career winning percentage (.710) as a starter.

Big Ben is only 11 touchdowns away from tying fellow 2004 draftee Philip Rivers for sixth all-time in passing TDs, along with 570 yards away from eclipsing Rivers on all-time passing yards.

Roethlisberger has led the Steelers to two Super Bowl wins (XL, XLIII) and was selected to six Pro Bowls. He also holds 24 NFL records and will likely be a first-ballot Hall of Famer once his career comes to a conclusion.
