Aaron Rodgers Has A Fractured Toe, Not COVID Toe
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers left the Week 11 loss to the Minnesota Vikings with a "very, very painful toe injury," but don't worry — he doesn't have COVID toe, he said Wednesday he has a fractured toe.
On Tuesday, the veteran quarterback went on The Pat McAfee Show and said he didn't have any lingering effects from his recent case of COVID except for "COVID toe" — a toe injury that stems from the body’s immune response to a recent case of COVID-19.
Despite Rodgers and McAfee both laughing at the description in between jokes about the QB's quarantine, The Wall Street Journal ran with it in its article, "Aaron Rodgers Doesn’t Just Have Any Toe Injury. He Has Covid Toe."
Rodgers ended speculation Wednesday as he told — and showed — reporters that he suffered a fractured toe working out at home during his quarantine, and it said definitely wasn't COVID toe.
Rodgers said he plans to continue treating the injury as a pain management issue, and said he hopes it'll heal at least a little over the Packers' upcoming Week 13 bye. He mentioned his priority is not missing any games and that there are some surgical options that might not require him to sit out.
"I don't plan on missing any time," he said. "I'll try to be on the practice field as much as I can, deal with the pain, and the goal is to play every single week. I'll definitely look at all options over the bye and decide what would be best to make sure that I get to the finish line."
The Packers (8-3) host the Los Angeles Rams (7-3) in Sunday's Week 12 matchup with kickoff set for 3:25 p.m. CST.
