49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo Speaks On The Team Drafting Trey Lance

49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been playing the role of good soldier since the moment the team drafted Trey Lance with the third overall pick.

Lance has impressed thus far in the camps and practices that the 49ers have held, but it remains to be seen if the team will give Lance the starting QB job.

Garoppolo has said everything right, and the team has stated they are committed to him as their starter in 2021.

"There's a million emotions that go on throughout your head and you think of all the possible scenarios and things like that," Garoppolo said last month.

"But at the end of the day, I want to play football. I want to go out there and win games. That's what I do. ... It took a little while to process everything but once I did, it was just go out there and ball. You have just got to attack it. The NFL is a crazy business."

So far the coaches who stated that Garoppolo would be the starter to begin 2021 have been true to their words, as back on June 9th Garoppolo remained atop the depth chart at the last camp.

Coach Kyle Shanahan has had nothing but good things to say about Garoppolo and what he's done this offseason.

"I think Jimmy had his best spring since we've had him," Shanahan said.

"I thought Jimmy came in in great shape, really locked in, a good place physically and mentally. And I thought he had as good of OTAs as he's had.”
