We have a live football happening on Thursday night. I can’t believe I just wrote that sentence. After a long, grueling offseason, we are finally here. The Pittsburgh Steelers will be taking on the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Hall of Fame Game.
Considering those being inducted into the Hall this weekend, the league couldn’t have asked for two better teams to participate. The game was canceled last season due to COVID, so there will be a total of eight players, coaches and scouts enshrined on Thursday night.
- Bill Cowher, Coach (Steelers)
- Jimmy Johnson, Coach (Cowboys)
- Drew Pearson, Wide Receiver (Cowboys)
- Alan Faneca, Offensive Line (Steelers)
- Troy Polamalu, Safety (Steelers)
- Donnie Shell, Safety (Steelers)
- Cliff Harris, Safety (Cowboys)
- Bill Nunn, Scout (Steelers)
We’ll also get to see former top names such as quarterback Peyton Manning, cornerback Charles Woodson and safety John Lynch receive their gold jackets as well. Unfortunately, the speeches will be put on an eight-minute time limit.
Here’s everything you need to know about tonight’s game:
Date: Thursday, Aug. 5,
Time: 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT)
Where: Canton, Ohio (Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium)
TV: Fox
Stream: FuboTV
Betting Line (FanDuel): Steelers (-2)
Over/Under: 32.5
As far as the game is concerned, it unlikely that a majority of the starters will participate, but at least we’ll have an opportunity to get a first look at star rookies. Here are a few of those names to keep an eye on Thursday night:
Steelers
- Najee Harris, Running Back
- Pat Freiermuth, Tight End
- Kendrick Green, Offensive Line
- Quincy Roche, Edge
Cowboys
- Micah Parsons, Linebacker
- Kelvin Joseph, Cornerback
- Jabril Cox, Linebacker
- Simi Fehoko, Wide Receiver
Even without Ben Roethlisberger and Dak Prescott playing, we should see a few intriguing quarterback battles going on. For the Steelers, it’ll be Mason Rudolph, Dwayne Haskins and Josh Dobbs. On the other side, we’ll get to see Garrett Gilbert, Cooper Rush and Ben DiNucci.
