NFL Best Bets for Monday Night Football: Dolphins-Saints

We had a nice Sunday going 2-1 on the day and now we have a Monday Night Football game that seems to have more interest for most fantasy football players than sports betting aficionados, but that doesn’t mean we can’t cash our best. Let’s see what looks good.

The Dolphins come into this game-winning six in a row and now want to make it seven after losing seven straight earlier in the year. The bright spot for them has been Tua Tagovailoa’s performance in these games. None of the teams they’ve faced are exactly world beaters or anything, with the exception of an upset over Baltimore. The rest of the teams they’ve beaten? The Texans, Panthers, Giants, and Jets twice. It is always important to take care of business, but it is hard to evaluate exactly how talented the ‘fins are.

The Saints are on a two-game winning streak of their own after dropping five games. The Jets were embarrassed by the Saints. Then the next week, the Saints held the reigning champion Buccaneers to zero points on their home field. This was the second time that the Saints beat the Buccaneers this season, so either they are just amped up for those games, or the Bucs have no idea how to play the Saints (even last year Tampa Bay struggled against them until the playoffs).

Tonight, I feel like I would normally take the points with the home team. The Saints are just 2-4 at home this season. The Dolphins are also just 2-4 on the road so far, so there isn’t really an edge on either of those. In the last two games, the Saints are putting the defense at the forefront of the planning and letting their offense score enough to save them games. The lower total also makes me think that the Saints might actually win this. If it is high scoring, I doubt the Saints' offense will be the sole or main reason. I think there are just too many injuries and things to deal with for the Saints – I’ll take the Dolphins -3.

There aren’t many other plays I like on this game, but I will take Myles Gaskin to score the first touchdown. I don’t expect it to be a rushing touchdown, but he has four receiving ones on the year, so his involvement in both aspects of the offense makes me consider him a good choice, especially at +800. Just need to hope Duke Johnson doesn’t steal all of the rushes and scores.
