While the Washington Commanders may have found their identity with the team’s new name, the franchise is still searching for a franchise quarterback.
Head coach Ron Rivera said the Commanders won’t be reserved with their opening under center in 2022.
NFL.com reports that after failing to get even one full game out of Ryan Fitzpatrick and being forced to hand the rest of the season to Taylor Heinicke, the head coach is looking to avoid the same outcome in the upcoming season.
“We’d like to believe we would be a viable option for a lot of (quarterbacks),” Rivera told The Athletic on Tuesday. “We understand what the capital will take to bring a type [of] player like that here. We believe we have a lot to offer.”
Rivera also thinks Washington might be an attractive destination for a quality passer.

NFL.com reports that Washington can offer a couple of exciting pass catchers in Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel, and a backfield that includes Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic.
The team also has a top-10 offensive line that’s capable of protecting the man under center. Washington has a defense full of young talent and NFL.com reports they hope to be better after ranking 22nd in 2021.

Commanders just stfu its REDSKINS
Who watches the NFL? It’s rigged! it’s the Georgia Championship Wresting of the 21st century! It’s not a game it’s “entertainment!”
I’m hoping the USFL will either be “real” football”…
OR…
so fake that it’s fun to see what happens next… I just hope they are not going to try to pretend to be a “sport,” like the NFL, when they are just WWE with a helmet.
As a former Redskin fan my advice to any prospective quarterback is to stay far away. Fed Ex field or whatever it’s called now is a graveyard for QBs.
Lol as a former fan after finally giving up after this hideous pathetic rebranding I can not fucking wait for them to realize that no that “just winning” will ever bring back the fanbase they once had. Lol it will be even better to see the last few stragglers still buying into whatever on his way out somewhat star QB they overpay to try and desperately get them back to relevance. This is going to be one of the fastest collapses of a major sports franchise in history.
Done with this team. It was actually better when it was just WFT…. Unless they actually brought back the name redskins, as far as im concerned this isn’t the team I was a fan of. Redskins fan does not equal Commanders fan. What a joke
