Top 10 Highest Paid Coaches In College Football
USA Today has released the list of the top 10 highest paid coaches in college football, with a familiar name at the top.
Seven-time national champion and Alabama head coach Nick Saban is on top once more, raking in a cool $9.7 million per year. No one can argue that Saban deserves every penny from Alabama, in the midst of perhaps the most historic run in college football history with 13 consecutive 10-win seasons and six national championships. Saban, however, is followed by two curious names: LSU's Ed Orgeron and Stanford's David Shaw.
Orgeron help lead LSU to a 2019 National Championship victory over Clemson but has gone 8-8 since then. His seat is scorching hot in Baton Rouge, with the 60-year-old unlikely to return next season. He is being paid $9 million by LSU, which might not last much longer.
As for Shaw, he took over for Jim Harbaugh in 2011 and immediately found great success. Shaw won 10 or more games in five of his first six seasons, appearing in four New Year's Six bowl games, winning two of them. Things have come back down to Earth in recent years but wins over USC and Oregon this season could be a sign that things are moving in the right direction. Shaw makes $8.9 million for his services, a nice number for the 49-year-old.
