To Delight Of Many, EA Sports May Have Date Set To Bring Back NCAA Football

Ever since it was revealed that EA Sports plans to bring back its popular “NCAA Football” video game series, fans have waited for more news on when the next game might be released. Now, there may be some idea.

EA Sports previously announced it is relaunching its college football series under a new name: EA Sports College Football. Although it wasn't known when — or in what format — the game would be released, EA Sports announced the game will be returning for the first time since NCAA Football 14 was released in 2013.

Extra Points' Matt Brown obtained a redacted copy of a licensing proposal from EA to NCAA schools where a four-year initial exclusivity window starting in 2023 is proposed.

While the proposed royalty rate is redacted, the document reveals a previous proposal of 8.5%. Schools would receive royalty money in tiers based partly on how popular their downloadable in-game content proves to be.

Licensing issues ended the series after the 2014 edition of the game, but with image and licensing rights rules being worked out by the NCAA, the pathway has been paved for the game to return, Larry Brown Sports reports.
