Quotes From Western Michigan Coach Should Be Damning of Pitt, Pat Narduzzi

Western Michigan upset Pitt on Saturday 44-41 in a thrilling game. The bigger story, however, was the damning comments that Broncos head coach Tim Lester made about Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi after the game.

Lester recalled a 2015 meeting between Syracuse and Pitt when he was on the Syracuse staff and said that the Pitt defense was nearly the same on Saturday.

"I've watched that game three hundred times this week and where they're going to come and how they're going to fit and what our matchups are going to be and what variety of matchups we're going to need to keep the safety off balance," Lester said.

If this is the case, how bad does this look for Narduzzi? You'd expect some change over a week-to-week span, let alone six years. The Pitt athletic administration has to be questioning Narduzzi's tactics and whether or not he should remain head coach much longer.

Narduzzi has fared well in seven seasons with a 44-35 record, but it's likely the Panthers peaked in 2019 with an 8-5 record.

Morale was high after a big win against Tennessee at Neyland Stadium, but all that was erased with this loss to a team who got bounced out of the Big House by Michigan two weeks ago.

It's more of the same for Pitt under Narduzzi. One step forward, two giant steps back. Fans will hope Narduzzi gets those coverages switched over before Pitt begins ACC play next weekend.
