OutKick The Tailgate: Should Michigan Be Ranked Ahead Of Michigan State?
No. 7 Michigan State is behind No. 6 Michigan in the College Football Playoff rankings, despite the Spartans defeating the Wolverines 37-33 two weeks ago.
That's left OutKick's Bobby Carpenter dumbfounded, who said he disagrees with the committee's ranking during OutKick the Tailgate on Saturday morning.
"We're supposed to believe that head-to-head matters and all these different things," Carpenter said. "Then all of a sudden, it's like it's head-to-head if it's close in proximity as far as the game, but wait a second, it was just like the last game that they won.
"And I understand that Michigan controlled it and Michigan State had to battle back, but to me, the TV show element of it comes into play in a huge way."
OutKick's Jonathan Hutton agreed with Carpenter, saying that Oregon shouldn't be No. 3 if head-to-head doesn't matter.
"This is BS, ok. But we all acknowledge that it is," Hutton said. "Why is Oregon ranked where they are? Because they beat Ohio State. Head-to-head apparently matters there...Michigan State beats Michigan two weeks ago and the Wolverines are ranked ahead of them after one loss."
