No. 13 Baylor Stuns No. 8 Oklahoma In Waco

The Big 12's College Football Playoff hopes might've gone up in smoke in Waco, Texas on Saturday.

No. 8 Oklahoma (9-1, 6-1 Big 12) fell to No. 13 Baylor (8-2, 5-2 Big 12) 27-14 at McLane Stadium, snapping a seven-game winning streak for the Sooners in the annual matchup. It also snaps a 17-game overall winning streak for Oklahoma, which was the longest active streak in the country.

Oklahoma couldn't get its FBS No. 11 ranked offense out of first gear, recording just 260 total yards. Freshman quarterback sensation Caleb Williams had his worst game this season, completing 10-of-19 passes for 146 yards and two interceptions.

The Oklahoma offense seemed to have figured things out when Williams was named starter for the Oct. 16 game against TCU, but the offense went backwards against Baylor. Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley yanked Williams from the game in favor of redshirt sophomore quarterback Spencer Rattler with 1:03 left in the third quarter.

Rattler completed 4-of-6 passes, albeit for only 36 yards. Williams returned in the fourth to help guide the Sooners on a 6-play, 75-yard drive to make it 24-14. But it was too little, too late for Oklahoma. Instead, it was a signature win for second-year Baylor head coach Dave Aranda. It's also Baylor's first win over a top-10 opponent since they beat No. 10 North Carolina in 2015.

The Baylor offense ran roughshod over Oklahoma's defense, to the tune of 296 yards on 47 carries. Both senior running back Abram Smith and junior quarterback Gerry Bohanon ran for over 100 yards on the ground, with Bohanon rushing for two scores.

Oklahoma faces a long road to make the College Football Playoff, needing to finish undefeated and win the Big 12 Championship game. Even then, it may not be enough.
