Mike Gundy Preaching Hard Work To Rolling Cowboys

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are doing a good job riding the line between good and great. After three straight conference wins, all of which were by at least 21 points, the Cowboys find themselves amongst the hottest teams in the country. OSU is currently ranked ninth in both the AP Top 25 and the latest College Football Playoff rankings.

With success has come newfound hype, but Cowboys coach Mike Gundy wants his players to plug their ears to it and just continue to work hard over the final weeks of the season.

"Don’t get out of our box and kind of understand who we are and not unnecessarily listen to people telling them how good they are, and have a good week practice, work hard and get ready to go out and play Saturday night,” Gundy told the media earlier this week.

The Cowboy defense is yet to surrender more than 24 points in a game this fall, and since their lone loss of the season (24-21 to Iowa State in October), OSU's defense has allowed opponents to score just 7.6 points per game.

" a sign of a good football team and a sign of a well-coached football team if a team gets better each week, and I feel like we’ve improved each week," said Gundy. "I’m happy with that part of our program this year, and so we just need to continue in that path.”

In order to continue pleasing Gundy, the Cowboys will have to slow unranked Texas Tech on Saturday. The Red Raiders are coming off a win against the same Iowa State that spoiled the Cowboys' perfect record earlier in the season.

"We just have to, like I said when I started, do what we do, stay in our box and practice well, focus and compete,” added Gundy.

OSU and Texas Tech are scheduled to kickoff Saturday night. FanDuel Sportsbook is amongst those buying into the Cowboys, listing Gundy's team as 9.5 road favorites.
