LSU Losing Five-Star Running Back For Academics

LSU rebounded from an opening week loss to UCLA with a blowout win over McNeese, but it's not all good news in Baton Rouge.

As relayed by Scott Rabalais of the New Orleans Advocate, the Tigers will be without five-star running back John Emery. Apparently, it's an academic issue, as Emery "registered for the wrong class," Rabalais wrote.

"Right now he's unavailable, things could change and if they do change, we'll play him," LSU coach Ed Orgeron told reporters. "Right now he's unavailable. Could they change? Yeah, but it's out of my control."

Emery's presence was creating a lot of buzz, and the Tigers will clearly need to adjust. Tyrion Davis-Price remains the starter, but beyond that, there's a bit of a question mark -- with freshman Armoni Goodwin and Corey Kiner perhaps taking on bigger roles. Kiner rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown vs. McNeese; Goodwin went for 23 yards.

Tre Bradford is also back with the Tigers after a stint at Oklahoma, and Orgeron indicated he could suit up for the first time this season vs. Central Michigan on Saturday.

"We'll have to see how the week goes, but we hope he can play this week," Orgeron told reporters of Bradford.
