Kentucky's Mark Stoops Addresses Coaching Rumors, Amid SEC Job Openings
His name has been brought up now in regards to two different coaching searches around college football, and it doesn't look likely to end until Mark Stoops puts an end to it. Well, on Monday, Stoops was asked about what he's been telling recruits about his name being connected to other jobs.
Stoops held his weekly press conference and was asked what his message would be to recruits they currently have committed and prospects they are currently recruiting.
"I mean, my relationships is strong with the prospects and always will be. I can't control that, I have no control over that. I don't want that out there, I don't want that distraction, I don't ask for that. As I mentioned, jokingly weeks ago when somebody mentioned that, I mean I'd rather it be that, than when you guys all talking about when they're going to fire me. So, I can only control trying to win and build a program here"
"I've been, and I think we can all understand that I've been nothing but committed to doing that here and plan on doing that," Stoops added.
Either way, his name will continue to be involved in coaching searches till the big ones are filled. He has earned the right to at least have his name put into the mix, so it's not surprising.
