Gus Malzahn Fired By Auburn, Collects Enormous Buyout

Auburn football announced today that Gus Malzahn has been relieved of his duties as head coach and that defensive coordinator Kevin Steele will be the interim head coach for the Tigers. Don't shed too many tears for Malzahn, who will reportedly collect a $21.5 million buyout -- a total that as of this past October was 12th-highest in the nation.

This was Malzahn's eighth season at Auburn. The Tigers were 6-4 this season, with losses against Alabama, Texas A&M, South Carolina, and Georgia. Overall, Malzahn went 68-35 at Auburn.
