Fans Can Attend Bills Games Without Being Vaccinated After All

Change of plans for fans attending Buffalo Bills games this season! No, I'm not talking about capacity. I'm talking about what will be required in order to attend games.

Earlier this offseason, officials in Erie County, the county that owns the Bills' stadium, revealed that only vaccinated fans could attend games this season. It was a decision that angered many, but there wasn't a lot they could do about it.

Well, it looks like those same county officials have since changed course. On Sunday, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz tweeted out an update saying vaccinations would no longer be required to attend Bills games. Because COVID rates in Erie County remain low, he no longer believes it's necessary to require attendees to have the vaccine.

“Based on few new COVID-19 cases (0 on Friday and 4 yesterday out of thousands of tests), low hospitalizations and good vaccination rates, we are rescinding the vaccination requirement to attend Bills games and stadium events,” Poloncarz said in his tweet. “We will revisit in future if circumstances warrant.”

It's good to see the decision-makers finally come around, but the "we will revisit in the future if circumstances warrant" statement remains a concern. With COVID case numbers declining rapidly, hopefully those who choose not to get the vaccine can still attend games this fall, in Buffalo and everywhere else.
