Chad Pennington's Son Commits To Marshall
Cole Pennington is ready to be the second Pennington to get their name etched in Marshall legend — following in his father's footsteps after committing to MU for the start of the 2022 season.
The junior quarterback from Sayre High School in Lexington, KY — son of former NFL quarterback and MU alum Chad Pennington — announced on Twitter that he will be joining the Herd as the third QB commit in the 2022 class of recruits.
Cole's father Chad Pennington played in the NFL between 2000-2010. Before his time as a Jet and Dolphin, Pennington produced a memorable career at Marshall University between 1995-1999.
As the program's QB, Pennington threw for MU's second all-time passing TDs (123) and an all-time leader in passing yards (14,098).
"To be a college student-athlete has always been a dream of mine," said Cole, with a bright outlook for producing a great career at Marshall, potentially aiming to eclipse his dad's legacy.
"Thank you, Coach Huff, Coach Cramsey, and the rest of the Marshall Football Staff for giving me this opportunity to say I'm 100% committed to Marshall University!!!! Go Herd!!!"
Pennington reportedly chose the Herd over schools such as Akron, Ball State and two unnamed FCS schools.
