Bama's Second Scrimmage Reveals More To Saban
Nick Saban isn't always an easy man to please, but Alabama is coming off another national title. So the coach gets results.
And Saban was forthright in his assessment of the Crimson Tide following a second spring scrimmage Saturday.
“We just keep on working with these guys and seeing if we can get more guys to play winning football,” he told reporters. “I think the first defense was good. The second defense made a lot of mental errors, gave up plays. I don’t think the tackling was as good this week as it was a week ago. We got a lot to work on.”
The defending champions have held 12 practices in 14 days. Everything will comclude Saturday with the much anticipated Golden Flake A-Day Game at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for noon, and not surprisingly, ESPN will carry it, despite the fact it doesn't count.
That's just how big Alabama football has become under Saban, and he clearly intends to keep it that way.
“How do we really manage this next week?" he asked. "We got two practices and the spring game. We really got to use both practices as an opportunity to continue to improve and get more ready for the season."
