Auburn Lands Third Commit In Three Days, Gaining Momentum On Recruiting Trail

Auburn has been struggling on the recruiting trail in recent months. The Tigers have been ranked last in the SEC for some time now, and even as recently as yesterday, their class was only checking in at No. 72 nationally.

But after a third commitment in as many days on Thursday morning, Bryan Harsin and company might finally have some momentum going.

First, kicker Alex McPherson from Fort Payne, Ala. committed on Tuesday. Then three-star tight end Micah Riley-Ducker followed up with a commitment of his own on Wednesday. Now, three-star safety Caleb Wooden from Lawrenceville, Ga. is joining them.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back made his intentions known via his Twitter account:

His commitment shouldn't come as a huge shock considering his brother, Colby Wooden, is already a standout defensive end on The Plains, but it's important nonetheless. Auburn had three total commitments heading into July, and now the class size has doubled in the last three days.

Are these elite talents who are going to send the Tigers shooting up the recruiting rankings? No, but momentum is important. The snowball effect in recruiting is very real, just ask Missouri and South Carolina after their recent success out on the trail.
