Fox Sports' Alex Curry Is Filled With The Christmas Spirit, Rare Air Ball & Clay's Family Is Ready For Christmas
Santa came through on the fire truck, and all the kids smiled with joy
If you were here Wednesday morning, you know I was in a situation where Santa was supposed to be stopping by the neighborhood on a fire truck and there were some scheduling issues. His arrival time was pushed back, I was up against a cold front moving in and it was unclear if the little boys and girls in the neighborhood would get to see the jolly old guy. There's only good news to report this morning: Santa made his visits to the boys and girls of my neighborhood, his driver poured Christmas ale growlers and even the coronabros came out of hiding for the event.
My service to the community this holiday season is officially over. My days of coordinating Santa on a fire truck are hopefully done for good. One little boy said he couldn't wait until Santa came back on the fire truck next year. I didn't have the heart to tell the little boy I hope to never see Santa and that beer tap fire truck come through our neighborhood ever again. My hope is that kids go back to visiting mall Santa, Bass Pro Santa, zoo Santa, the Santa who sits in a little shack at the outdoor mall and all those other Santas out there who serve their community. I never want to live through another year of kids touching a piece of Bass Pro plexiglass separating them from Santa.
This was a one-year deal, kid.
• You get one small slice of sports on your Christmas Eve with the New Mexico Bowl. Hawaii, who for years played that magnificent Aloha Bowl on Christmas Eve as my family would throw Christmas paper at each other, faces Houston at 3:30 on ESPN. That's it. That's the schedule.
• 4,000 fans were in attendance at last night's Orlando Magic game. Fans who sat courtside took at-home COVID tests. Houston is expected to allow a league-high 4,500 in per game.
• As I type, Santa is headed for Alice Springs, Australia where it's expected to be a beautiful 81-degree summer day for Christmas. The Santa NORAD tracker will come in handy today if your kids are driving you nuts.
• Merry Christmas to all.
