What Does The Future Hold For Steph Curry And The Golden State Warriors?

The Golden State Warriors put together one of the great runs in NBA history, winning three titles in four seasons.

They did it with a roster full of stars, as well as an excellent job by head coach Steve Kerr.

Now the team has to make some tough decisions, and one of those might be coming with arguably the best player in franchise history - guard Steph Curry.

As it stands today, Curry is slated to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2021-22 season.

Many think that it's a slam dunk that Curry simply inks a contract extension with the Warriors this summer, continuing his career in Golden State.

"My full expectation is that Steph will be with us for the remainder of his career," Golden State owner Joe Lacob said on The TK Show podcast with The Athletic's Tim Kawakami. "I think he wants that, we want that.

"I really don't have anything to say about that other than we're in the middle -- or started that process. That'll go on this summer."

It sounds like signing Curry, if it happens, won't come till about mid-August or so.

"I think we all want to see what it looks like with the draft and free agency first," Lacob said. "I think that makes sense to see where we're going. And Steph sees where we're going.

"Our expectation is we're gonna be with Steph for a long time. We love him and the fans love him. He's obviously fantastic and we're gonna do everything we can to keep him here and keep him happy."

The 33-year-old, three-time NBA champion is eligible to sign a four-year extension worth over $200 million that would put him under contract for the next five seasons.
