Lamar Odom Speaks Out On The Lakers, Says Team Needs To Add Another Star

After they won the Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy last season, there were plenty of NBA experts and even fans who thought that the Los Angeles Lakers would pull off a repeat in the 2020-21 campaign.

On paper, the Lakers looked like the best team in the NBA, and with Anthony Davis joining the roster, it looked like it was just a matter of when, not if, the Lakers would win another championship.

Instead, the season turned into a disaster. The team suffered several injuries, it just seemed like they never were able to get on the same page, and the chemistry was not there.

Now the Lakers are now at home making offseason plans after the team lost the first round of the playoffs in stunning fashion, four games to two. They were outplayed, outhustled, and just didn't play with the same heart and passion as the Suns did game-by-game, so it was no huge shock that the Lakers were sent packing early from the NBA postseason.

So what can this team do to get back to form?

Former Laker legend Lamar Odom -- who has had plenty of his own headlines, good and bad, since being a part of the team from 2004 to 2011 -- is now speaking out about the team's future.

Odom spoke to TMZ about the Lakers getting back to form, and he says that the first thing that the team needs is to get healthy again.

"I mean, probably is enough, but we need them healthy," Odom said to TMZ. "But just in case if they're not healthy, I think once the Lakers put another piece with those two guys, then they'll be alright because they have enough supporting cast right now. But I just think they need one more strong piece."

There are going to be PLENTY of pieces out there that will want to come to Hollywood to play for the Lakers. The question is, will any of those players be a good fit for the team?

Odom was quick to point out that the Brooklyn Nets have three stars - and that the Lakers should look for one more star to go along with James and Davis.

"The NBA is a copycat league anyway. If they gave you a script, then maybe you want to make that your movie," Odom said.
