Giannis Thought Bucks Were Tanking

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and recent NBA champion was part of a Tuesday's 117-89 blowout win over the Pistons, and he went super sarcastic postgame.

"Ahhhh...we won. Oh, God. Oh my goodness, I thought we were tanking for the No. 1 pick. Phew," the two-time Defensive Player Of The Year said after snapping a three-game losing streak.

He's making fun of the media that freaks out about everything. It's about time a player recognized that our media shouldn't be taken seriously and that oftentimes short winning and losing streaks mean nothing to title contenders.

With 76 games left in a weak Eastern Conference, a short losing streak in early November doesn't mean squat. Giannis knows this, as many players do. They just usually pretend these events are much more important so fans don't get upset believing they care more than the players do. They want to maintain the illusion that players are as irrational and shortsighted as the "fans," which is short for fanatic.

As a fan of sports myself, even I'll admit that the players who share my need for wins are always my favorites.

Despite that, Giannis isn't pushing the panic button the way the headlines suggested these past few days. Poor shooting, below-standard defense, and tough scheduling could all be playing a role.

The Bucks will be fine and Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo wanted to make sure that was clear. He's even live tweeting Harry Styles concerts to prove the slow start isn't a worry. Does this look like a worried man? He just average 40 and won an NBA championship. Relax.
