Ex-NBA Player Delonte West Seen Panhandling In Virginia
Former NBA guard Delonte West has seen hardship since exiting the Association in 2012.
Growing concern for the eight-year player has come with every sighting of West on the street or appearing under the thumb of influence abuse.
In the latest occurrence, West was spotted near a Richmond highway in Virginia over the weekend, asking for change on the street.
After a video surfaced of West appearing disoriented, shirtless and in handcuffs after throwing a glass bottle at a vehicle in January 2020, basketball fans called for members of the NBA to reach out and assist the struggling West.
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban responded to the video by reportedly helping West enter a Florida rehab facility.
“Because we all want something to feel great about today, here is your Delonte West update. It’s still an uphill battle, but he is climbing,” Cuban tweeted after sharing pictures of West reuniting with his mother, Delphina Addison, and in heightened spirits.
Unfortunately, West relapsed back in October. West has also been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He has voiced his outlook toward improving himself and his health, but the struggle continues.
West played for the Mavs from 2011-12.
