Dennis Schröder Flexes On Everyone That Laughed When He Declined The Lakers' $84 Million Offer

Last March, then Lakers guard Dennis Schröder was offered an $84 million extension that he would eventually turn down -- he's since agreed to a one-year, $5.9 million deal with the rival Boston Celtics and that led to being the laughing stock of social media. Well, today's his birthday and he used his big day to show everyone how rich he is despite throwing away $80 million.

He's not JUST saying he's rich -- he's reminding everyone that mistakenly turning down a lucrative extension didn't ruin him. He's still got it just fine.

In case you can't squint hard enough to read the brands on these two vehicles, that's a Bugatti and a Rolls Royce. Or to Schröder's point, almost $2 million worth of cars, which presents to an accurate statement he's making:

He still made $4.9 million last season to participate in 61 basketball games. That's $80,327/game that can be broken down as $20,081/quarter, or even more hilariously $100,408.75/hour. His point is that he's largely being made fun of by an audience that loses track of perspective. He's still a 28-year-old kid from Germany that didn't have money growing up, so there's no "L" to take when you cash checks for half a million a week.

Everyone always complains when an athlete does this because it makes it look like a "you're broke and I'm rich" comparison, but the mentally stable see this as a post to remind everyone he's doing just fine. Dennis Schröder may have wrecked an opportunity for generational wealth in the short term, however he still has an opportunity to reset his market by next summer. Defensive point guards that can score the ball the way he can will always have a market. He will always get the last laugh, regardless of how many IG fingers point and laugh.
