Nancy Pelosi Tells Olympians Not To Speak Out About China: 'You're There To Compete'

Nancy Pelosi's message to the American Olympians on the verge of the Beijing Games is clear: shut up about Chinese politics and compete.

"I would say to our athletes — you're there to compete. Do not risk incurring the anger of the Chinese government because they are ruthless," Pelosi said Thursday at a Congressional hearing on China.

"I know there is a temptation on the part of some to speak out while they are there. I respect that, but I also worry about what the Chinese government might do to their reputations, to their families," Pelosi added.

"So, again, participate, let us celebrate from abroad, and don't risk thinking that there are any good intentions on the part of the People's Republic of China's government because there are none."

In a wild plot twist that very few saw coming, 81-year-old Nancy Pelosi just might end up the bulldog the NBA could use in its front office to keep Chinese-NBA relations on the up and up.

Nancy's shut up and compete orders fall right in line with the Chinese stance on the Olympic Games. The Communist Party has warned athletes there could be penalties for slipping up and ripping the ruthless regime.

"Any expression that is in line with the Olympic spirit, I'm sure, will be protected," Yang Shu, deputy director-general of international relations for the Beijing Organizing Committee, told reporters in January. "Any behavior or speech that is against the Olympic spirit, especially against the Chinese laws and regulations, are also subject to certain punishment."

This is quite an Olympics for the free world. They're not allowed to speak out against atrocities going on in China, international fans are banned from the Games because of China's zero-COVID policy, and NBC has its event announcers halfway around the world calling events from some NBC corporate building in Connecticut.

The Chinese have created a hockey team out of North American players, including two Americans who have pledged their allegiance to the Communist-supported hockey team.

"We’ve been eating Chinese food, we’ve been living the Chinese culture, so there’s a certain closeness you start to feel with China, and you start to feel like you’re actually going to represent them and you want to win for them,” Jake Chelios told the Associated Press.

You're not dreaming. This is the world we're living in.

Nancy Pelosi is telling athletes to shut up. China's telling athletes to shut up. LeBron's silent. NBC just wants these dumb Games to end, and red-blooded Americans are playing hockey for the enjoyment of the Chinese government.

What a time to be alive.
