White Sox Set To Deal For Arizona 2B Eduardo Escobar

The Chicago White Sox are the front runners in the AL Central at the moment, but that's not stopping them from looking to better their team for the remainder of the 2021 campaign.

Reports say that the Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks have worked out a deal, with the Sox acquiring versatile infielder Eduardo Escobar.

Escobar would become the primary second baseman for the White Sox now that Nick Madrigal's season has been cut short by a torn hamstring.

Escobar, 32, is raking at the plate in 2021, hitting 17 homers and driving in 51 runs. He also has a history with the Sox, having played for them back in the 2011 and 2012 seasons before being dealt to the AL Central rival Minnesota Twins.

He has spent the last four seasons with Arizona and played all over the infield at second, short and third.

It's no surprise to see Arizona starting to sell off players, as they are in the midst of an awful season, sitting at 22-57, 29 games back of the San Francisco Giants for first in the NL West.

As for the Sox, they are sitting in first in the AL Central, 2.5 ahead of Cleveland. They have a mark of 45-32 and could use more pop in their lineup. The trade for Escobar could certainly help with that.
