Uber Prospect Luis Robert Set To Ramp Up Injury Rehab
The White Sox have cleared outfielder Luis Robert to resume baseball activities in Arizona until he's cleared for a rehab assignment. A team that's struggled to stay on the field finally gets some good news.
Both Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez were considered likely done for the rest of the season, so the fact that Robert was cleared in late June means that outfield is getting some help. Robert was hitting .316 in his 95 at bats before tearing his hip flexor in May, so now that outfield is about to be scary good.
So when could Robert return to game action?
According to that tweet sent out by the White Sox, four weeks sounds about right. But their original timetable had the 23-year-old outfielder missing approximately four months, and then suddenly he was back two months later to rehab in Arizona. Of course, the team probably won't rush his return since they sit 2.5 games ahead in the American League Central. One of the luxuries of being good is that you don't need to rush young studs back before they're ready.
Even with the injuries, the White Sox are finding ways to win baseball games despite all the backlash early on for Tony La Russa. Luis Robert is just a month and some change away from replacing a struggling Andrew Vaughn in left field. The American League is in trouble, man.
