The St. Louis Cardinals Have Won 16 Straight Games

The St. Louis Cardinals are officially unbeatable as they just beat the Cubs 4-2 for their 16th straight victory. This is a wildcard team that hasn't lost a game since August 29 that sets up to face the Dodgers or Giants, depending on who locks up the west.

Any team fixing to play the Cardinals should be sweating right about now...

It feels like we see this story play out for the Cardinals or Giants every few years, doesn't it? A team written off around the deadline that no one gives any credit, and then all of sudden they're World Series contenders.

Roster wise, this makes sense with their highly talented group of position players. You don't trade for Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt and expect this lineup to go down without a fight in September. Well, now the Cardinals are a lock for the postseason and you shouldn't be startled if  they sent the big bad Dodgers early.

It's most terrifying that this Cardinals team has mastered the art of the fundamental. Future hall of fame defensive anchor Yadier Molina makes sure defense is at the forefront of this squad's mind while Nolan Arenado takes the seat as the team's defensive star. And don't forget that the six-time All-Star third baseman has 33 homers and 103 RBI.

They can do it at all in St. Louis.
