Start Of Some Minor League Baseball Seasons Delayed, But They Will Play

Minor league baseball was a no-go last season and will start later than usual in this one, per J.J. Cooper of Baseball America.

But it may not impact all minor leaguers. As Cooper noted, "Major League Baseball sent a memo to minor league teams on Monday informing them that the 2021 minor league season at Double-A and the Class A levels will be delayed."

In other words, Triple-A leagues very well could start on time. That would make sense, as there is no delay in the start of the 2021 MLB season.

"Owners would prefer to delay the start of the season in order to get more people vaccinated and generally provide a safer playing environment," wrote TC Zencka of MLB Trade Rumors. "But they also want to limit the number of games played without fans in attendance. With the CBA in place, however, MLB has little recourse but to start the season on time."

Bottom line: Late minor league baseball beats no minor league baseball. That's especially the case after the season everyone just experienced.
