Padres Fire Manager Jayce Tingler

The Padres have fired manager Jayce Tingler after a disappointing 79-83 season, according to president of baseball operations A.J. Preller. So this team went from nearly acquiring Max Scherzer to make a World Series push to losing Scherzer to the rival Dodgers and sinking to third place and a Tingler firing.

Boy, that escalated quickly.

If we're being honest here, the Padres have no clue what they're doing. They traded half their prospects in order to land players like Adam Frazier, Blake Snell and Yu Darvish, and then they parted with farm system director Sam Geaney. Firing the man in charge of building up prospects that GM A.J. Preller shipped out of town for ready assets makes zero sense.

Then the Padres collapse in the division even though the team technically got better at the deadline and now the manager has to go. No consistency and it seems team owner Peter Seidler is hellbent on finding scapegoats all over the yard. It's everyone's fault except the players, apparently.

Jayce Tingler managed just 222 games for the Padres and the last straw was falling short to the Dodgers and Giants, who are much better teams right now. A 116-106 career record wasn't good enough for the organization that didn't have much a chance last season with the late-season injuries, but suddenly one year of another injury-plagued season was all this organization needed to see.

A real shame for Tingler, if you ask me. The San Diego Padres are officially on the hunt for their next manager and there's just not much out there.
