MLB Announces 0.3% Positivity Rate in Spring Training COVID Tests

The first set of results from mandatory testing under the MLB’s COVID-19 Health Monitoring and Testing Plan have been announced and 0.3% of tests were positive for COVID-19 ahead of full-squad workouts.

There have been 13 total positive COVID-19 tests of the 4,336 taken upon the arrival of players and staff to spring training — nine players and four staff members, the MLB said on Friday.

The league said 11 different clubs have had one or more individuals test positive during intake testing, and the total number of diagnostic tests conducted so far is 6,634.

The MLB said all individuals who have cleared the intake screening process immediately become subject to regular monitoring testing, and of 2,298 tests taken there have been no new positives.
